Gas Flow Meters - Types of Coriolis Flow Meters

CNG and LNG: what are they?

Compressed natural gas (CNG) is natural gas that has been pressurized (over 3,600 psi) and stored in a gaseous form.

It is abbreviated LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). LNG is condensed into a liquid by cooling it to -162°C in a gaseous natural gas at atmospheric pressure. In addition to saving space and transportation costs, natural gas liquefaction has a high heat value and high performance, enabling it to be used in a large scale.

Measuring CNG gas flow with a Coriolis meter

Coriolis flow meters are being increasingly substituted for traditional V-cone and orifice plate flow meters due to their obvious advantages, such as high accuracy, low maintenance, multiparameters measurement, etc. Coriolis meters can measure liquid, gas, and steam. They are ideal for large density measurements or gas flow measurements under high pressure. In CNG gas stations, the pressure is always high, such as 340 barg or even higher. The advantages of Coriolis Flow Meters

A high level of accuracy: With an accuracy of 0.2% and 0.1% it can be used to transfer custody

A direct measurement of Gas Mass Flow does not require external temperature or pressure compensation

Since the flow meter sensor has no moving parts, it requires little maintenance and attention.

The flow meter sensor does not require strict straight pipelines before and after it

Multi-parameter measurement, such as gas mass flow, gas volumetric flow, density, and temperature with only one flow meter

It can be used to measure the flow of liquids with high viscosities

There are a number of limitations associated with Coriolis flow meters

Gas measurements at low pressures and densities are difficult

There is a high sensitivity to vibration when measuring flow
